Bullitt County Real Estate
Bullitt County was named in 1796 for landowner, Alexander Scott Bullitt, a leader in the political formation of Kentucky. In the early days, Bullitt County was known for its vast salt mines used in the production of military ammunitions. The Salt River played a major role in the transportation of the salt commodity and the subsequent development of Shepherdsville, the County Seat. The county is also home to Jim Beam Distillery, the oldest manufacturer in Kentucky and heralded as the beginning of the Bourbon Trail.
Bullitt County has seen significant economic growth in the last 10 years with no end in sight. As for size it’s roughly 300 square miles of land which includes the major cities of Shepherdsville, Mount Washington, Lebanon Junction, Hillview, Pioneer Village, Fox Chase, and Hunter’s Hollow.
